THE WELSH COLLECTION. Imago Mundi, Luciano Benetton Collection. ITALY. 2017 (Book and Exhibition):
My work titled ‘Y Fedwen’ is one of 140 pieces commissioned by Imago Mundi, Luciano Benetton Collection in Italy, for inclusion into their next collection, ‘The Welsh Collection’ which will go on exhibition in ITALY in 2017.
Imago Mundi is the collection of works commissioned and collected by Luciano Benetton on his travels around the world, involving, on a voluntary and non-profit basis, established and emerging artists from many different countries. Each of them has created a work whose only restriction is its 10×12 cm format, contributing to the creation of a remarkable artistic geography.
The main ambition of The Welsh Collection is to build and pass on to future generations a visual map of human cultures and this collection is entirely about portraying Welsh culture. Work is from artists who were born in the country, and others who have since moved there; the important and most relevant thing is that Wales is part of their lives.
The curator, Stephanie Szakalo has confirmed the book has now been published to coincide with the exhibition launch.
