Curator Notes:
THE POWER OF PENCIL
Curator: Cath Stocker
A virtual exhibition in the ArtCan Virtual Gallery.
The exhibition comprised 103 contemporary works by 45 ArtCan artists celebrating the pencil.
“This exhibition unites ArtCan artists of all mediums. I wanted to discover their ideas. What was the first thing they saw or thought about that would come to life using a pencil? Perhaps by mark making they were simply making abstract ideas come to life using a pencil?” Cath Stocker.
This year Cath collaborated with musician and composer Cara Tivey who has provided the
exhibition’s soundscape. Cara released her solo L.P ‘Zone’ in Nov 2022, a diverse selection of piano pieces she created during and after Lockdown.
